Pilling (or fuzzballs) are those little balls that form on a knitted fabric due to use. In all napped fabrics, fibers of different lengths protrude above the fabrics. These fibers impart a soft fluffy 'hand' to the fabrics. The D-Fuzz-It Sweater and Fabric Comb will catch these fuzz balls and brush them from the fabric. After a few removals of this matting, pilling, or fuzz balls, the longer fibers will all have been leveled - at this time the fabric will have fibers of virtually equal length protruding. The shorter, equal length fibers do not have a tendency to pill, and the fabric will then be almost pill proof.
