(More customer reviews)I have been using this shaver for about a year and it wasn't giving me a very close shave. My father recommended that I try Williams Lectric Shave. I don't know what that stuff does, but I now get a shave almost as smooth as a blade.
If you do have this shaver, you can make your own solution instead of the refill kits from Braun:
* denatured alcohol
* Singer sewing machine oil,
* McCormick pure lemon extract, This is optional. You'll need this if you want your razor to have that lemony fresh smell. Be sure to get extract, not lemon juice. Lemon extract is an oil made from the skins.
Directions:
Rinse the empty cartridge with water. I don't bother to completely clean it out. Just rinse it a few times, then let it dry.
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract.
1/2 teaspoon machine oil.
5 3/4 oz of alcohol.
I mix it in a little pitcher with a screw on top that I bought at Wal*Mart. After I shake it up, I pour it into the Braun cleaning cartridge.

(More customer reviews)Was fortunate to find the model number for my well-used electric shaver to order the right part to begin with. Grundig makes good and long-lasting shavers. The foil screens are delicate and can be easily damaged if mishandled. Mine had big gaping holes in it which can tear a face to pieces. The replacements arrived intact, each in its own tiny white box which is about 2" x 3/4" in size (within a larger box, of course). They slide easily into the shaver head. I was just happy parts were still available.

(More customer reviews)I can not see how ANYONE could give this shaver a 1. This is why i almost hate reading user reviews anymore. Before i bought this shaver there was one person who gave it a 5 and two who gave it a 1 and i hesitated buying but but im glad i went through with it. They said you don't get a case with the shaver which is UNTRUE. You definitly do. The main i want from a shaver is a close shave and this one performes. I only had one electric shaver before this a corded norelco unit that is horride. It has the lift and cut system and does not cut close at all. I think the "lift & cut" is a gimic really if you look at the blades really close. Im rating this on overall performance/features and not on performance/price ratio or i would have given it a 5. The reviewers who said the side trimmer doesn't work well are right but i really couldn't care as i wouldn't use it anyways. Other than that the only thing that could make it better would be a self cleaning system and the ability to use it in the shower....but what do you expect for this price

(More customer reviews)The Silk Epilator is a nice alternative to waxing because it's a lot cheaper in the long run. Your legs also stay smooth for a while afterwards, just like waxing. Unfortunantely it hurts much more than waxing does. A lot of times I'm tempted to just shave because it hurts a lot. Also, I've been having an excess of ingrown hairs, so after using the epilator, I have to go in with my tweezers and get those too. If you are willing to put up with the pain and the long amount of time it takes to do this, then this product is for you.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this system from a local store here in Columbus and I was greatly disappointed with the product. Although in terms of style, this appears to be a great design, the shaver had an odd feel about it. After only a few weeks I was surprised to note that the plastic hood holding the micro-screens down onto the shaver had broken off on one side. The hood (or hair-pocket)is made of a poor grade of plastic and breaks fairly easily. Doing a Google search on the MS 900 shaver I was shocked to read about the number of customers who have experienced this same problem regarding the product. Upon contacting Remington's customer service I was informed that the product was no longer being manufactured by them and that they had no replacement parts for this shaver in stock (?) If I provided them my original cash register receipt I could have a replacement sent to me.
Now if you don't mind getting a replacement shaver (the shaver has a 2 year warranty but I need to find the original receipt...) then it's not a bad system, but how about Remington building one that doesn't break so easily. And if they don't make replacement parts then why sell the darn thing? I'm not a happy camper.
I would give it 0 stars if I could - Don't buy it.
Following up my original review - purchased in June (for Father's Day) - broken hood holding screens within a month. I've replaced the original hood but after ordering the part from Remington's store the cleaning system has started leaking fluid during cleaning. And I've had it less than 2 months...
Save your money and buy something else - this is a lemon...

However, it doesn't hurt anymore, just feels like a tingly prickly sensation -- like after your foot falls asleep. The instruction manual recommends using the silk-epil after bathing, and I have found that to be helpful. You are just very relaxed after a hot bath or shower, and then voila! -- your shaving is done for the week!
You should use a loofah or something similar too -- it helps guard against ingrown hairs.

Panasonic Vortex Nano HydraClean System II - Silver Review

(More customer reviews)Over the years I have tried many electric shavers from Braun, Philips/Norelco, Panasonic and others. It would always come down to the same thing:
- you have to go over the same spot multiple times to get it smooth and in the process of doing so the skin becomes red / inflamed. Wearing a shirt with a collar afterwards is torture let alone wearing a tie!!!!
- I then had to use all kinds of soothening lotions to get the skin to cool down and could not shave for several days
- hairs would become ingrown and infect under the skin after a while
- the electric shaved would never really get clean and clog up, more so the sink looked discusisng after cleaning
Result: I'd run back to the latest in manual wet shaving under the shower: Mach III or Fusion etc.
I purchased this because of the airline securoty rules re liquids etc on board. Everytime I would have to hand over my foam and lotions and in some cases even my aftershave.
So I read up on what electric shavers would work to remedy all the above. The Braun and Panasonic come close and I decided on the Panasonic ES8228S for 160 bucks via Target.
My skin has not fully adapted yet but I certainly do nopt have the inflamed skin -rash I had with other brands. With Lectric Shave it is actually similar in feeling to a wetshave.
Secondly, it shaves close. People say as close as a wetshave but I disagree. I have shaved against the growth direction with wet shavers all my life (otherwise I can't get anything smooth) and this can NEVER be accomplished with an electric shaver, I think.
However, the shave is very close and close enough to look as smooth (but not feel) as a through close wet shave.
The shaver works under the shower and that is bliss. I can combine my shower routine with a shave, like I am used to! Love that. Also, when using cheap foan it works great as well. Not that the shave is closer but it helps my skin.
Fanially, the cleaning station is a very hygienic method. No tiny hairs in the foils or sink, definitely a welcome addition.
Also note that this shaver works in 110v to 220v outlets and you can simply plug the electric cord from the cleaning unit in the back of the shaver when travelling.
Conslusion:
not as perfect as people state but certainly very close to a wet shave (but not fully there).
Final thought: this is indeed a 'pretty' version of the ES8109S which you can get for around 100$. The 60$ extra I paid is for the wood and gold trim.
