(More customer reviews)I've owned an old Sharper Image Ultra Groomer for years, and it still works very well. However, the charge no longer holds, and I've since run out of blade oil. I should have just gotten more blade oil for it, but I figured I'd "upgrade" with a new groomer. The features of the GR-T300 seemed impressive, so I decided to give it a shot.
Within 2 months (just over 1 month, actually), the new groomer will not hold a charge, and even while plugged in, the motor will eventually die. Obviously a faulty unit, but surprising being that my old groomer is STILL cutting after years and years of use. I keep my hair buzzed tight, so I use these groomers for beard and head hair. The old Ultra Groomer cuts nice and close w/ the shortest attachment (3mm), but this new trimmer on its lowest setting does not cut as close. I also noticed I had to go over several times for it to cut completely. Since it's obviously a faulty unit, it may all be related, but cutting length probably has nothing to do with that.
The guard is quite large, so it makes it very difficult for trimming head hair around/behind ears, as well as facial hair (mustache) near the nose. You just can't get into those tight spots because of that.
The vacuum feature was definitely nice. It won't catch every hair, but it does make a big difference. The motor is fairly quiet and smooth, that is, when it was working correctly. It also charged up quickly, and the timer is a nice addition. Of course, that all means nothing when the product dies, as did mine.
Overall I'm disappointed in this product, as I expected much more from Sharper Image, especially since I've had that old trimmer for so long. I'll be sending it back, and I am hoping to get a refund instead of a replacement, being that the cutting performance was nothing special. Instead of replacing it, I will be purchasing some blade oil for the old one.

The Sharper Image GR-T250 looked good on paper, but in actuality is very disappointing. It has a very lightweight cheap plasticky feel. The motor speed sounds weak and slow compared to the Wahl. It cuts poorly and not as closely as the Wahl. The mini-shaver head was painful to use as it would pull on my beard hairs. I do not recommend this groomer.

I got it, popped the battery in, and was totally amazed! It's hard to describe, but if you can picture the top of your little finger -- that's the size of this rotary electric razor that spins in a circle. I thought it might "pull" the hairs out, but it doesn't. This gadget has changed my life! They ought to put me on a commercial, but I'd be too embarrassed. This thing should be in the medicine cabinet of every man over 40... I highly recommend this product and am surprised they aren't doing mass advertising for it. If more people knew about it, it could take off and be a staple for family use. Minus: It stopped working after about a year. I replaced the battery but it still didn't run.
Overall, I'd say that *IF* these things last a year on average, I'll just buy a new one every year, because it's worth ten bucks a year to me to have a really effective trimmer. Still, it's disappointing--they could raise the price five bucks and put better-quality parts into it so it wouldn't fail after a year.

(More customer reviews)My wife bought this product for me, probably as much of a gift for herself as for me, as I'm sure she grew tired of seeing little hairs in and around the sink everytime I trimmed my goatee (no matter how hard one tries to clean them up a few stray hairs always seem to stick around). The concept sounds good: the Trim-n-Vac vacuums up your beard/moustache hairs as you trim them, instead of having them fall onto the sink or counter causing a big mess.
For the most part, the Trim-n-Vac delivers on its promise. While it does not successfully vacuum 100% of the hair being trimmed, it gets most of it, making post-trim clean up a much quicker and easier process.
The only real major complaint I have about this product is its sheer bulk. This is one of those products where I almost wish I had waited a few product generations to get one, assuming that eventually the size of this product will more closely resemble that of a standard moustache/beard trimmer. The product in its current form is simply so large that it is difficult to see what you're doing. This is especially a problem when I'm shaping/edging my goatee. Since so much of my face is obstructed by the Trim-n-Vac it is very difficult to insure that I'm trimming everything straight and evenly. During this portion of the beard trimming process I really begin to long for my much-smaller, non-vacuuming beard trimmer, which made it much easier for me to see what I was doing. Then I realize I have barely any clean-up to do and I don't miss it nearly as much.

(More customer reviews)Having been saddened when The Sharper Image closed it's stores, I never thought I would get to replace my old Sharper Image Turbo Groomer (2.0 I think), it was $65 around 2003. I bought this and I have been happy. I tried about 3 different $20 and under ones from wal-mart. This works the best. It is small enough for travel, but it is also fairly large and you can feel the quality when you hold and use it. Heck, even the perfect Sharper Image packaging I revealed when opening the Amazon Box had me happy about the quality before I even used it. If you want quality, then I definitely recommend this. I have not tried any of the nose hair trimmers that cost more than this apart from the old $65 Sharper Image Turbo Groomer I had, which this works just as good as. The travel kit it comes with is nice too.

(More customer reviews)This trimmer looks great and it has a shiney outside. The clippers work great but there aren't enough settings for the desired styles that I want to shape. I like to fade my beard so that the stubble starts at the tip of my side burns and I blend the hair down gradually getting thicker as I go toward my chin. What sucks is that the four settings on this thing don't allow me this option. 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm. At first it seems like these settings would be enough but I found that I would like something in between 3 and 6, and in between 6 and 9.

(More customer reviews)While it is certainly not the top-of-the-line product, I must say that this Remington trimmer served me well for about 20 months. I'd been using it for my short goatee, and sideburn trimming, and thats all I would recommend it for. Don't expect consistent lengths with the attachments, as it all depends on what angle you hold the blade to your face... one false move and "ZZZT!"
A few months ago, the plastic "comb" attachment for the large cutters broke off its tabs, so now the only setting that works is the shortest (1) because it can not hold itself in place. The smaller trimmer is good for mustache trimming, but a bit too small for anything else. The nose trimmer is uncomfortable at best, and I rarely used it.
Its worth noting, while they advertise "Lube for life blades" that supposedly never need maintenance, in the user manual they specify that this is only the case if you never rinse them with water. If you clean the blades by rinsing them with water, then they will eventually require re-lubrication.
For the price I'd say I got my money's worth, and I may recommend the same if you have a short goatee or sideburns. Now that I'm growing a longer beard, I'm afraid that this Remington Personal Groomer will no longer CUT IT. Badump-Bump Tish!
