I went searching for one of these gadgets not knowing what to expect. I could never figure out how they worked. I mean, how do you get an electric razor that small? ...
I got it, popped the battery in, and was totally amazed! It's hard to describe, but if you can picture the top of your little finger -- that's the size of this rotary electric razor that spins in a circle. I thought it might "pull" the hairs out, but it doesn't. This gadget has changed my life! They ought to put me on a commercial, but I'd be too embarrassed. This thing should be in the medicine cabinet of every man over 40... I highly recommend this product and am surprised they aren't doing mass advertising for it. If more people knew about it, it could take off and be a staple for family use. Amazon.com shipping was flawless, the product professionally packages - overall a 5 star experience and something that will save me a ton of aggravation in future years. Now if I could just get the hair on the top of my head to grow back...

(More customer reviews)My wife bought this product for me, probably as much of a gift for herself as for me, as I'm sure she grew tired of seeing little hairs in and around the sink everytime I trimmed my goatee (no matter how hard one tries to clean them up a few stray hairs always seem to stick around). The concept sounds good: the Trim-n-Vac vacuums up your beard/moustache hairs as you trim them, instead of having them fall onto the sink or counter causing a big mess.
For the most part, the Trim-n-Vac delivers on its promise. While it does not successfully vacuum 100% of the hair being trimmed, it gets most of it, making post-trim clean up a much quicker and easier process.
The only real major complaint I have about this product is its sheer bulk. This is one of those products where I almost wish I had waited a few product generations to get one, assuming that eventually the size of this product will more closely resemble that of a standard moustache/beard trimmer. The product in its current form is simply so large that it is difficult to see what you're doing. This is especially a problem when I'm shaping/edging my goatee. Since so much of my face is obstructed by the Trim-n-Vac it is very difficult to insure that I'm trimming everything straight and evenly. During this portion of the beard trimming process I really begin to long for my much-smaller, non-vacuuming beard trimmer, which made it much easier for me to see what I was doing. Then I realize I have barely any clean-up to do and I don't miss it nearly as much.

(More customer reviews)I can't say anything about the frequency with which this product is bought and doesn't work. However, I have had my Finishing Touch for almost a year, and I am happy with it. I am now getting to the point where I turn it on and it takes a while, with my fiddling around with it, for it to turn on (it might be the battery). But as far as hair, it seems like it can handle most anything, even a lot of hair. I have used it on several parts of my body to remove hair from my face and eyebrows, to my arms and legs, to more delicate parts. Most everywhere, it will remove all the hair you need removed. However, the hair does grow back quicker than with anything else out there you could use. Also, I have a hard time pulling it apart to change the battery. On the other hand, it's quick, it's cheap, it doesn't smell bad like Nair, it doesn't leave cuts like a razor and it doesn't hurt like waxing. All in all, it's the best thing I have found to remove hair!

Unfortunantely it hurts much more than waxing does. A lot of times I'm tempted to just shave because it hurts a lot. Also, I've been having an excess of ingrown hairs, so after using the epilator, I have to go in with my tweezers and get those too. If you are willing to put up with the pain and the long amount of time it takes to do this, then this product is for you.

The only item in this trio that constitutes a 'maintenance' product for your trimmer or shaver is the oil. Save yourself $7 and skip the "Maintenance Kit" in favor of buying the Shaver lubricating Oil 1/4 ounce vile for electric shavers and hair trimmers on its own from the same seller. If you're buying the shaver, it might come with the powder anyway; mine did.

However, it doesn't hurt anymore, just feels like a tingly prickly sensation -- like after your foot falls asleep. The instruction manual recommends using the silk-epil after bathing, and I have found that to be helpful. You are just very relaxed after a hot bath or shower, and then voila! -- your shaving is done for the week!
You should use a loofah or something similar too -- it helps guard against ingrown hairs.

I purchased this 5560 product because of the Wahl name. I own their plug-in electric hair groomer and it is powerful and well made. Unfortunately, this nose trimmer is not of the same quality. It is cheaply made foreign junk with the Wahl name stamped on it. The cutter actually did a decent job, for a week or two. Then started having trouble with the little motor, wouldn't turn or cut. I took it apart and the motor looks like a cheap motor from a toy in a happy meal. Waste of money. Goes in the trash. os
